Welcome to our Open Lines program. Our first caller was Dr. John Brandenburg who was our guest for about 75 minutes. Attorney Michael Listner was with us to talk space policy and law in the context of commercial space and some national security space. Michael focused on the recent Supreme Court ruling on the Chevron deference case, explaining it in detail to us in the context of space matters. Michael cited several examples so that we would be sure to understand the significance of the ruling over NGO's and government agencies which had set policy for the past nearly 40 years. We welcomed Dr. Mindy Howard back to the show to talk with us about her new work, Cosmic Girls and the Cosmic Girls Foundation (www.cosmicgirls.org). Mindy told us a terrific origin story for the creation of Cosmic Girls so don't miss it. We also talked about guiding young girls and women all over the world toward space, becoming an astronaut, astronaut training and STEM. John and I welcomed Dr. Simone Marchi to discuss the asteroid that killed the dinosaurs, the type of rock that it was, where is likely came from, its composition and more. Our guest had much to say about the asteroid belt, also what lies beyond Jupiter in terms of big rocks. Our guest said that this could happen to Earth again so we talked about using resources for planetary defense or humans to the asteroids to learn more about them for defense. We welcomed Dr. Steve B. Howell to the program for our discussion about exoplanets. I started the interview by asking our guest for the latest exoplanet news, trends and if he was satisfied with the rate of discovery since exoplanets came into our knowledge base. We had an excellent conversation about search for life with exoplanets, SETI, even looking for plausible life conditions on an exoplanet moon. We focused on exploration, addressed budgets and private sector exploration, and of course raised the question of the definition of life constituting our search. We welcomed Dr. Sandra Hauplik-Meusburger to the program from Vienna, Austria. We focused on space architecture specifically for human spaceflight and safety. We talked about settlement, habitats, how to make them sustainable plus we talked about why this was important and why humans in space and our space exploration was important. Many specific questions were asked regarding the Moon, orbital human stations and Mars. This was a comprehensive discussion. Anatoly Zak returned for a four part program on Russian space history regarding the Apollo Soyuz test flight, the process leading up to it and the simultaneous secret Russian military program to their military space station, Alma. Marshal returned to the program to discuss his space farming ideas, his proposed theory and project, plus he went over many challenges facing a space food supply for space settlements.
