Self-esteem: The belief we have in our ability to effectively use our minds and our reasoning ability to choose our goals and purposes and to handle the challenges that come along the way.
Everything depends on your self-esteem. The type of relationships you have, your career advancement, your physical and mental health all depend on this one thing.
Saying positive affirmations will not give you the success you're looking for.
No book on success-philosophy will give you the success you're looking for.
Being "confident" will not give you the success you're looking for.
"Faking it until you make it" will not give you the success you're looking for.
Self-esteem is step ZERO!
Self-esteem is the credit card limit for your mind.
It determines how many resources you can tap into. The lower your credit card limit, the more the world feels like it's against you, like the world is unknowable and that it's your destiny to fail.
The higher your credit card limit, the more it feels like the world is on your side, that if you ask you shall receive, that your mind is capable of conquering all the challenges in the way between you and your ideal.
Want to increase the credit card limit of your mind, self-esteem?
Congratulations, you made it to the right spot!

Data is the most valuable resource on our planet, and the data economy impacts everything from mental health to human rights. On Season 2 of Technically Optimistic, host Raffi Krikorian engages engineers, activists, professors, and more to ask big questions about our data-driven era. How and why is our data being collected? How is it affecting our daily lives, our decision-making, our political systems? Perhaps most importantly, what does the future of data look like, and what can we do to help shape it? This season of Technically Optimistic is all about your data, and how you can gain back some control.
